On this page, you will find answers to the questions we are commonly asked about the HiHello Business Contact Manager.
- What do the emojis in my HiHello address book mean?
- When someone scans my QR code, will HiHello automatically save their contact details?
- Why can't my new contact see my details in their phone's contact app?
- How often will my contacts sync?
What do the emojis in my HiHello address book mean?
If any of your contacts have the lightning bolt emoji (⚡) next to their name, that means they are a live contact. This indicates that they also use HiHello and anytime they update the contact information on their own card, we will automatically update the contact details you have on file for them on your Contacts page and vice versa.
If you’ve synced your HiHello Contact List with your phone’s address book, in addition to seeing the lightning bolt emoji (⚡), you may also see the waving hand emoji (👋). Any contact with 👋 next to them means they were imported from your HiHello Contact List.
When someone scans my QR code, will HiHello automatically save their contact details?
When someone scans your QR code, the majority of the interaction takes place on their device, so we are not able to automatically capture their contact details. We will send them a prompt asking them to share their contact details back to you, though they have the choice to opt-out.
While sharing your HiHello card via QR code is the fastest way to share your card, if you would like to capture your recipient's contact details automatically, we recommend sharing your card via text or email instead. When you share your card by text or email through the HiHello app, we will automatically create a new contact on your HiHello Contacts page so that you can follow up. Sending your card via text or email will also mean that your digital business card ends up in your new contact's inbox workflow.
Why can't my new contact see my details in their phone's contact app?
Different platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac) control how to save contacts, and if someone doesn't have the HiHello app, adding your card to their contacts looks different depending on the recipient's device. After your new contact taps "Save Contact" on your HiHello card, they will be asked how they want to save your contact details. If they choose to save your details directly on their device, then all of the following steps are dictated by the device rather than HiHello. If someone does not complete the steps on their device, they will be able to view your contact details but they might not be saved.
You can read about this in more detail in our Help Center to read more about what it's like to receive a HiHello card.
